Steven Lee, Senior Research Fellow, Institute Of Immunology And Immunotherapy, University of Birmingham

Steven Lee qualified with a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Bristol and went on to study for a PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine researching immune responses in leprosy patients. He then joined the Institute of Cancer Studies at the University of Birmingham where he received a MRC Career Development Award and spent a year working with Profs Phil Greenberg and Stan Riddell at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Upon returning to Birmingham, Steven obtained a Senior Cancer Research Fellowship from Cancer Research UK to study immune responses to the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and EBV-associated human cancers.  He is now focussing on genetic engineering of T cells to target both virus- and non-virus-associated cancers with a particular interest in targeting the tumour vasculature.
