Dr Ardeshir Bayat trained as a clinician scientist BSc (Hons) MB BS MRCS PhD. His research work is focused on the subject of skin repair, rejuvenation and regeneration. He is considered an international expert in this subject area, having presented and published extensively in this field. His laboratory is based at the University of Manchester in England as well as the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He is regularly an invited speaker at national and international scientific/clinical conferences (in excess of 580 personal and supervised presentations given to date). He has an H index of 59 and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, which include original scientific papers, reviews and invited articles in press and/or under review (more than 475 publications including original papers, review articles, book chapters and published abstracts). He is a grant reviewer for many Research Councils including the NIHR, MRC, Wellcome Trust and Action Research amongst others. Additionally, He is a peer reviewer for numerous clinical and scientific journals. He currently sits on the editorial boards of several journals related to areas of expertise including dermatology and plastic surgery related journals. His research thrives upon the multidisciplinary and interactive research environment that exists between the bedside (the clinic/hospital), the bench (laboratory) and industry.
