Atelerix is biotech company based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK. With seed funding from Innovate UK and other renowned investment firms, we have commercialised the work of Professor Che Connon, head of the Tissue Engineering Department at Newcastle University, to develop a novel hydrogel technology that has been optimised for the encapsulation of precious, delicate cells and tissues, and is used to overcome the inherent problems of cryopreservation of biological materials. Our range of products enables safe storage and transportation, at room temperature, of valuable biomaterials and eliminates the need of freezing and thawing biomaterials, so they retain their natural state without incurring damage. Our technology facilitates an extended shelf-life and eases the manufacture of critical and reliable drug discovery models, which ultimately will be used in clinical trials, which in turn will result in better outcomes for cell therapies.
