Marcello Maresca is an Associate Director in the Discovery Sciences department at AstraZeneca. He is currently leading the Precise Genome Editing group at Astrazeneca and supervises the strategy for the generation of advanced cellular and animal models of disease. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology form Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, where he worked on the development of the most used genome editing tool in bacteria, recombineering. He did his postdoctoral work at the Novartis Institute of BioMedical Research where he worked on the development and applications of genome editing tools in drug discovery.
