Dr John Tan, Senior Scientist, Technology Innovation, Roche Sequencing Solutions

John Tan is a Senior Scientist in Technology Innovation at Roche NimbleGen.  He joined Roche in 2013 where he served as project lead for several product launches and currently, manages a lab and program that provides early access to technology from Roche NimbleGen’s Innovation group to select partners.  Potential applications of an early access peptide array technology include single amino acid-resolution antibody characterization for epitope mapping, binding specificity analysis, proteome-wide binding characterization, and biomarker discovery.
Previously, Dr. Tan was Managing Director of the Notre Dame Genomics Core Facility and a Research Assistant Professor in association with the Eck Institute for Global Health and Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame.  His contributions include developing technologies for infectious disease research with a specialization in malaria genomics.  Dr. Tan has co-authored more than 25 book chapters and peer-reviewed manuscripts, including work published in Genome Biology, Science, and Nature.  He received a PhD degree from the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame in 2009, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina-Asheville in 2002.
