Simon joined Tularik Inc. in 1997 as Project Leader for antibacterial discovery and resulting lead programs were subsequently spun-out into Cumbre Pharmaceuticals Inc. for which he last served as Vice President of Research.  During his tenure at Tularik and Cumbre, Simon directed programs that led to the discovery of several novel antibacterial agents including a series of hybrid antibiotics currently in clinical development.  Simon joined Janssen R&D in 2008 and has since led microbiology teams focused on the discovery and regulatory support of antibiotic products and most recently has led or supported microbiome, protein biologic agents and bacterial vaccine programs in discovery and early clinical development. Simon has authored or co-authored over forty peer reviewed publications, review articles and book chapters, and is an inventor on multiple issued patents.
