MAJ Wellington is the director of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research Clinical Trials Center, where he is responsible for all operations, personnel management, and financial planning of the largest clinical trials center in the Department of Defense (DoD) with annual budget of over $3M. Serve as principal (N=2) and associate investigator (N=3) on phase I-II clinical trials assessing safety and efficacy of military-relevant vaccines, therapeutics, and devices. Other responsibilities including study protocol drafting as well as recruitment of external (non-DoD) pharmaceutical partners and congressional briefing on vaccine of national interest. He is dual-hatted as the infectious disease officer for the Global Field Medical Laboratory, the US Army's only deployable field laboratory for the detection, confirmation, and medical surveillance for biowarfare agents, endemic diseases, and other Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) threats. He additionally performs duties at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) and A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center, where he serves as infectious disease staff clinician seeing both inpatient and outpatient clinic. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and lives in Silver Spring, MD with his wife and two children.
