Dr. Sheila Marie Keating is the Vice President of Immunology at GigaGen, Inc., where she leads the discovery and development of the first recombinant human polyclonal antibody therapeutic programs. Leveraging advanced microfluidic technology, her work focuses on capturing the full breadth and depth of natural immune responses to create novel therapeutics for infectious diseases, transplant medicine, and autoimmunity. Notably, she spearheaded GigaGen’s rapid response to COVID-19, moving from convalescent samples to a research cell bank for recombinant polyclonal antibodies. She is the PI on a BARDA funded program to develop a recombinant polyclonal medical countermeasure for botulinum neurotoxin.

Prior to joining GigaGen, Dr. Keating served for a decade as a Director of the Core Immunology Lab at the Vitalant Research Institute (formerly Blood Systems Research Institute) and currently holds an appointment as an Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her extensive career in transfusion-related research includes directing biomarker analysis programs and investigating systemic biomarkers for chronic and infectious diseases in both humans and non-human primates.

Dr. Keating earned her PhD in Immunology at the University of Oxford and holds an MSPH in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications. A recipient of the Dorothy Price Medal for Immunology and various NIH Young Investigator awards, she is a recognized expert in the translation of complex immune responses into clinical applications.
