Roland Ventura holds a PhD in molecular biology and vaccines from the Queen’s University Belfast.  After postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford he worked with Dako A/S in Denmark under a European Commission-funded Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge Fellowship.  Following this, he became head of the European Vaccine Initiative’s EC Projects Department.  In 2009 he became a freelance consultant specialising in vaccine technical and executive management, whilst co-founding Venetas Consultants Ltd in 2018.  In the same year, he also became a consultant for CEPI, and in 2019 he was appointed CEO of Global Malaria Vaccines GmbH.  He has been working at VFI since 2010 in a variety of managerial, advisory, and strategic roles.
