Peter is Deputy Director for Integrated Clinical Vaccine Development within the Global Health Division at the Gates Foundation.  In this role, he provides technical and strategic guidance on clinical development to the foundation’s program strategy teams.  His group works on accelerating vaccine development through leveraging correlates of protection, vaccine schedule optimization and development of novel combination vaccines.  In addition, he leads the foundation’s vaccine development activities for HPV prophylactic vaccines, including efforts on new product development and reduced dose schedules.  He joined the foundation in 2014 from Novartis Vaccines where he led the meningitis vaccine clinical franchise.  Prior to joining Novartis, he was an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer in the Meningitis and Special Pathogens Branch at the US CDC and completed subspecialty training in adult infectious diseases at Emory University.
