Justine McPartlan, Scientist, Tiba Biotech

Justine McPartlan, B.Sc., is a Scientist at Tiba Biotech. During her undergraduate research at MIT, she focused on novel RNA vaccine strategies to fight infectious disease and cancer at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research under Dr. Hidde Ploegh. This work culminated in a 2016 PNAS publication that would eventually serve as the basis for Tiba Biotech’s technological platform. She went on to advance her work on the delivery platform at the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research in the Langer group, followed by further immunology training under Dr. Jianzhu Chen using specialized mouse models and primary human immune cells. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she worked at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard before joining Tiba. There she researched cancer dependencies and used Crispr-Cas9 systems to validate WRN helicase as a dependency in microsatellite unstable cancer cell lines, work that resulted in a 2019 Nature publication. At Tiba, Justine leads daily biology R&D lab operations with a team of junior associates and serves as a project manager for multiple externally-funded research programs. She is an author on multiple patents and high-profile peer-reviewed publications.
