Dr. Pottala received his MS in biostatistics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2007. He began his career in research as a biostatistician at South Dakota Health Research Foundation and the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2012, he received his Ph.D. in computational science and statistics from South Dakota State University and transitioned to working in the biotech industry. He also received an assistant professor appointment from the University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine. He has published 35 peer-reviewed medical journal articles and has been an inventor on eight issued US utility patents.
Since 2015, he has worked at PPD, now part of ThermoFisher Scientific. Dr. Pottala has led biostatistical teams on over two dozen global clinical trials across all phases of development; predominantly in the areas of vaccines and oncology.
