Jaime Flores-Riveros, CSO, AmerStem

Dr. Flores-Riveros completed his PhD and postdoctoral training in biochemistry and
transcriptional regulation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He later
worked at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, focusing on metabolic regulation, before co-
discovering leptin’s role in angiogenesis, obesity, and diabetes at the Institute for
Diabetes Discovery.
As Senior VP of Research at Harbor BioSciences, he led the development of Triolex,
advancing it to clinical trials in four years. Over the past decade, he has focused on
plant-based biotechnology solutions. As a co-founder of AmerStem, he develops
sustainable technologies for producing plant-derived compounds for agriculture,
pharmaceuticals, and vaccines.
With over 25 years in R&D, he holds multiple patents and publications in transcriptional
regulation, metabolic disorders, and plant biomass expansion. His current work centers
on plant-based platforms for large-scale, sustainable saponin-based adjuvant
production.
