Candice Roux, Program Manager: Grants, Innovation and Product Development, South African Medical Research Council

Candice Roux is an experienced Program Manager within the Grants, Innovation, and Product Development (GIPD) unit at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). With a strong background in the reserach and development sectors, Candice brings a unique blend of skills in portfolio management, project management, strategic planning, and partnership development. Her passion lies in driving innovation and fostering collaboration to advance global health outcomes, particularly in the field of vaccines. In her current role, Candice is responsible for both pre-and post-award grants administration and stakeholder management, overseeing collaborations with several international funders, including the UK Research and Innovation Medical Research Council , SA-India partnership, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, The World Health Organization and the Medicines Patent Pool. She currently serves as the SAMRC’s Lead Program Manager for the mRNA Vaccine Technology Transfer Program, awarded by the World Health Organization, and responsible for the management of the South African mRNA Vaccine Consortium (SAMVAC).  At the World Vaccine Congress Washington 2025, Candice Roux will share her insights and expertise in the SAMRC's R&D program and strategic partnerships within the SAMVAC Program. Attendees can expect to gain valuable knowledge from her presentation, informed by her hands-on experience in driving innovation, securing funding and fostering partnerships to advance vaccine development.
