I have always been interested in infectious diseases and approaches to prevent them, primarily with the application of vaccines, in both humans and Animals.
I obtained my PhD in Virology from Harvard university in 2009 and before that I had my DVM from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and MSc in molecular biology from Vrije University of Brussels in Belgium. Soon after I completed my PhD, I joined then Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics (now part of GSK) in Cambridge Massachusetts. There I worked as an investigator in the RAD (Rational Antigen Design) team, specifically focusing on HIV vaccine design and development, which was pretty much an extension of my PhD project. After few years, I joined then Merial (now Boehringer-Ingelheim) in 2012 as senior scientist focusing on design and development of viral vectored vaccines. Currently, together with colleagues and small group of talented scientists, we strive to bring innovative solutions to our customers.
