The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) was established in 1975 at the University of Saskatchewan. VIDO has one of the largest most advanced containment facilities in the world with large animal BSL2 and BSL3-Ag housing, and BSL4 labs and animal housing in development. VIDO has recently established a BSL3 capable cGMP biologics manufacturing facility with up to 1000L capacity. The manufacturing centre provides the organization with a continuum of development from discovery research to vaccine manufacturing. VIDO is renowned for establishing animal models of disease for animal diseases and as models for human diseases.
