Juergen Eils holds a degree in mathematician by education. After more than 15 years of experience in commerce he switched his activities in the beginning of 2000 to scientific research. Permanently guided by his commercial background he established a data management and software development group with a strong service character. His group comprises actually more than 20 members. Within the context of “International Cancer Genome Consortium” (ICGC) he is responsible for data management and provision for all three German ICGC projects. Juergen Eils initiated the setup of a high professional IT infrastructure with data storage systems in peta-byte scale and cluster hardware for processing the massive data output from NGS technology. He also plays a major role in data management of clinical and omics data within “Deutsches Konsortium Translationaler Krebszentren” (DKTK) and the Medical Informatics (MI) initiative, two major German consortia of the leading university hospitals in Germany.
