Prof. Dr. Silvia Martín Lluesma, MD-PhD, is Head of Advanced Therapies Program at VHIO (Barcelona, Spain). Simultaneously, she serves as Professor of Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) at the University CEU San Pablo – Montepríncipe (Madrid, Spain). She has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences by the UCM (Madrid-1985). She did her doctoral studies at the Max-Planck-Institut for Biochemistry (Munich-Germany) and obtained her PhD in Science (Biology) at the University of Geneva (Switzerland-2002), where she conducted most of her postdoctoral research. Later, she studied Medicine at the University of Geneva (Switzerland-2014). In 2015, she joined the Center for Experimental Therapies (CTE) of the University Hospital Center of Vaud (CHUV; Lausanne-Switzerland), as Head of the Clinical Development Unit at the Oncology Department. In this role, she participated in the launch of different clinical trials with TIL therapy, as well as in other cell therapy projects, such as and dendritic cells. She joined the University CEU San Pablo in 2019 and VHIO in 2020, where she participates in initiating different clinical trials using CGTs. Expertise in the field of immune cell and gene therapies using TIL, DC vaccines, NKs, CAR-Ts and derivatives. Her well established expertise in the CGT field encompasses a comprehensive evaluation of the optimal preclinical and clinical approaches for CGT projects, both of which are critical in developing a successful regulatory submission, including IMPD and clinical documentation assessment.
