Félix Hugo Galarza Delgado is a prominent leader and activist in the field of rare diseases in Ecuador and Latin America. As President of the Ecuadorian Federation for Rare Diseases (FERPOF) and of the Ecuadorian Foundation for Muscular Dystrophy and Rare Diseases (FEDIMURA), Félix has dedicated his life to improving the quality of life of people with rare diseases and their families.
He also holds the position of Vice-President of the Latin American Federation for Muscular Dystrophy (FEDIMLAT), which allows him to advocate for the rights of people with muscular dystrophy and rare diseases at the regional level.Felix is a patient with Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy, a rare disease affecting the musculoskeletal system. However, instead of letting his condition limit him, Felix has turned his experience into a source of strength and motivation to help others. Among his most outstanding achievements is being a proponent of the Single Registry of Rare Diseases (RUER), an initiative that seeks to improve the detection, diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases in Ecuador. Felix holds a degree in Philosophy and Arts, Inclusive Education which allows him to approach the challenges of rare diseases from a holistic and multidisciplinary perspective.
