Terrapinn are continuing to monitor and assess the potential impact of the Coronavirus on Telecoms World Asia 2020, to be held on the 25-26 March 2020 at Centara Grand Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand. The event will be taking place as planned.
The well-being of attendees to Telecoms World Asia 2020 is of upmost importance to us. We are continuing to monitor the situation in Thailand and will follow guidelines set out by The Ministry of Health in Thailand and The World Health Organisation.
The Thai government has taken the following measures to contain nCoV:
a) Thailand’s Prime Minister has assured that the country has taken full control of the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV) in the country through concerted efforts by authorities concerned.
b) Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has reassured visitors and residents that the highest level of checks and preventative measures are in place at all international airports.
c) Infrared Thermo scan units at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi International Airports operate round-the-clock screening of all passengers, especially flights from Chinese cities.
d) Thailand has an active surveillance and screening system for disease control thanks to its experience in dealing with medical conditions; such as SARS, MERS, avian flu and others.
e) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports also issued advisories to tour agencies and airlines instructing them to monitor and scale up checks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to the country.
f) Thailand has also activated a comprehensive surveillance protocol to ensure the screening of travellers arriving from identified high-risk areas as well as introducing preventative measures through public and private health services and communities across the country.
g) Hotels and residences are included in the surveillance procedures, even though all reported cases were infected outside of Thailand. Compliance with international recommendations is a priority to deal with the virus outbreak. Collaboration with local people, travel agents, tour operators, hotels and residence owners has been achieved to ensure we have implemented effective prevention and control measures in place to safeguard all visitors.
