An MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, US one of the world’s leading business schools, Prof. Syed Munir Khasru is Chairman of the international think tank The Institute for Policy, Advocacy, and Governance (IPAG) Asia Pacific, Melbourne. He is a thought leader in AI, digital transformation, cyber security and internet governance and has played a leading role in policy discourses in global forums like G7 and G20. As Co-Chair of G7 and G20 task forces, he wrote numerous policy briefs including on digital transformation and AI. Prof. Khasru is the Senior Advisor on Strategy, Policy & Global Affairs to the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), Australia’s leading body of cyber security professionals. He led high-level G20 dialogues on “G20 and AI: Connecting the dots between technology and humanity” during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, co-organized by IPAG and AISA. Prof. Khasru has championed calls for an inclusive global AI governance framework, promoting equitable access, safeguarding against algorithmic bias, and regulating the use of autonomous weapons. Prof. Khasru has edited two international publications “Digital age, cyberspace and social media: Challenges of security & radicalization” and “Harnessing the fourth industrial revolution: Challenges and opportunities” which have been cited in the intellectual domain of digital transformation, cyber security, newly emerging technologies, and 4R. His opinion pieces are published by leading international media outlets which include Project Syndicate (Global), World Economic Forum (Global), The Straits Times (Singapore), Nikkei Asia (Japan), South China Morning Post (Hong Kong), and Indian Express.
