Mel Bennett has over 20 years’ experience in public administration working in policy, capability and operational roles in the Australian Customs Service, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection and the Department of Home Affairs. 
Mel is currently the Assistant Secretary of the Identity and Biometrics Capability Branch.  The Branch provides policy leadership and expertise to support delivery of identity and biometrics capabilities across the Department and with international partners.  
Mel’s academic qualifications include a Graduate Diploma of Public Administration from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Arts (Policy Studies) from the Australian National University.
