Fiona McLay is Lead AI Client Adviser at Thomson Reuters, with 25 years as a dispute resolution lawyer and over five years advising legal and government organisations on AI and technology adoption. She is the author of Tech Enabled Lawyer and a postgraduate legal technology lecturer. Her public sector work spans Commonwealth and State government legal practices in Australia and NZ, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, and court services organisations. Across these engagements, Fiona has worked through the governance pressures, risk constraints, and change management realities that make responsible AI adoption in the public sector genuinely hard to get right. She brings a practitioner's perspective to the gap between AI principles and what actually gets implemented.
