Darwin Evans | Senior Director, Product Line Management

Darwin Evans currently serves as Senior Director Product Line Management at Ciena. In this role he is responsible for product direction for submarine applications. From 1999 to 2010 he worked in a number of engineering and product development roles at Nortel Networks. In 2008 he was a founding member of the Nortel submarine R&D engineering team where he designed and executed solutions for some of the first subsea industry 40G and 100G coherent upgrades, continuing this work following the acquisition of the Nortel Metro Ethernet Networks division by Ciena in 2010. He contributed to a chapter entitled “Submarine cable upgrades” in the text “Undersea Fiber Communication Systems” edited by José Chesnoy. Darwin has been active in the subsea industry as a member of many SubOptic working groups, including currently chairing the working group on Open Wetplant Management. Since 2015 he has been the Product Line Manager responsible for submarine applications at Ciena.
