Wendi Wheeler, Energy and Carbon Strategy Manager, Network Rail

Wendi is Energy & Carbon Strategy Manager for Network Rail and has over 25 years’ experience in the Energy Management sector.  Leading Network Rail's energy and carbon process, she is responsible for energy and carbon policy and strategy, managing the delivery of the £500m energy budget and meeting regulatory targets.  
As a member of the Rail Decarbonisation Taskforce, Wendi has been involved in developing the industry’s strategic plan to respond to the government’s challenge of removing diesel from GB rail.
Now leading an ambitious decarbonisation programme for Network Rail, Wendi’s aim is to accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon railway in the UK by 2050.
Wendi has recently completed her tenure as Chair of the UK Energy Manager’s Association and remains on the Board of that organisation.  In 2013 she was awarded the accolade of ESTA Energy Manager of the Year.
