Statement on Coronavirus

At this moment the WHO and the Spanish Health Authorities do not consider the situation regarding the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) a public health emergency in Spain. There is no negative travel advice to visit Spain or the Madrid reason and therefore Rail Live! 2020 in Madrid will proceed as scheduled.
Of course, safety for all our attendees is a top priority and the organisers of Rail Live! are monitoring the situation closely and are working closely with the venue on following the latest health advice. For the latest updates you can  check the situation reports by the World Health Organisation .
We are working closely with the IFEMA, the venue of the event which has protocols linked to those established both by the World Health Organization and by the national Spanish Ministry of Health and regional Council of Health of the Community of Madrid regarding first-line actions should a case of infection be detected within its facilities. The IFEMA has increased the health measures it takes, and it is in constant contact with the authorities through its two Medical Service units which are equipped to provide immediate medical attention during its events. In addition, hygiene measures have also been implemented and expanded by providing assistants with sanitary soap dispensers, as recommended by WHO, as well as strengthening the cleaning services of the facilities.
General recommendations and advice for the public:
The World Health Organisation has issued the following general advice to reduce the risk of transmission:
  • Avoiding close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections.
  • Frequent hand-washing, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment.
  • Avoiding unprotected contact with farm or wild animals.
  • People with symptoms of acute respiratory infection should practice cough etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and wash hands).
  • Within health care facilities, enhance standard infection prevention and control practices in hospitals, especially in emergency departments.
WHO does not recommend any specific health measures for travellers. In case of symptoms suggestive of respiratory illness either during or after travel, travellers are encouraged to seek medical attention and share their travel history with their health care provider.
