Dawn Torrence Ireland, President and Founder, C.H.E.R.U.B.S.

Dawn M. Torrence Ireland founded CHERUBS - The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness and Support in 1995.  The world’s oldest and largest non-profit organization for CDH, it was renamed CDH International in 2017, with a more global focus on Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research.  Ms. Ireland is the current President of CDH International.

She received her education at Duke University, manages the largest patient fuel natural history database for CDH, works with medical professionals and over 6200 patient families in 69 countries.

Ms. Ireland also works with the National Institutes of Health NICHD as a Structural Birth Defects Liaison for the Gabriella Miller’s Kids First project, mentors several other charities, lobbies on Capitol Hill for better CDH and child health funding, is a rare disease advocate, co-authors research publications with several universities, has authored / co-authored 4 books on Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and is a well season public speaker.
