Kjell Kochale, Research Associate, Institut für Umwelt & Energie, Technik & Analytik e. V. (IUTA)

Kjell Kochale completed his Master's degree in Applied Chemistry with a focus on instrumental analysis and laboratory management at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in 2019. He then began his doctorate at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Chair of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His research focuses on the automated coupling of effect-based analysis with instrumental analysis. His work focuses on the development of a column switching system for the online enrichment and separation of polar and non-polar analytes and the automation of an effect-based assay with the aid of collaborative robotics.

Day 1 (26th June) @ 13:45

Cobots in action: transforming the analytical laboratory

Practical experience in the integration and programming of collaborative robot

Particularly targeting audiences unfamiliar with collaborative robot (cobot) automation, this presentation delves into the integration of cobots within (analytical) laboratory environments. We emphasize simplified implementation methodologies, centering on drag-and-drop programming techniques tailored to ease the adoption process. Key considerations for selecting suitable cobot tools are discussed, alongside insights into utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for process orchestration. By demystifying cobot integration and providing practical guidance, this session aims to empower analytical laboratories to embrace automation, optimizing workflows and enhancing productivity in previously unexplored domains.
