After receiving his Ph.D. in Physical-Organic Chemistry from University of California Santa Barbara with Prof. Donald Aue, and a post-doctoral fellowship at UCSB, Joachim joined BASF SE, Germany in 1990. He has been directing a variety of analytical and research units at BASF SE since. Among others, he headed the ag-biotech company DNA LandMarks Inc. in Québec, Canada, as CEO & Managing Director from 2005 to 2010. Starting 2010 Joachim directed the BASF Competence Center Analytics with groups in Shanghai, Mumbai, Basel, Münster, Lemförde, Tarrytown/NY, Wyandotte/MI and Ludwigshafen. Currently, he is Vice President Analytical Science.
