Hooman is currently an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark where his research group broadly aims to engineer mammalian cells for improved cellular behavior in fields including biologics manufacturing and cultivated meat. He previously led the Omics and Modeling Team in Biologics Development at Biogen and was a Bioinformatician at Lygos, a Bay Area biotech company using yeast to synthesize cannabinoids and malonic acid. Hooman carried out his Ph.D. and postdoctoral work in the Systems Biochemistry and Cell Engineering lab of Dr. Nathan Lewis at UC San Diego where his research focused on integrating multiomic datasets to understand Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell behavior for applications in cell line engineering and optimal bioprocess design.
