Rajarsi Gupta, Assistant Professor, Stony Brook Medicine

Prof. Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at SUNY Stony Brook University. Dr. Gupta obtained a BA in Molecular Biophysics from  UPenn and MD/PhD from the Medical Scholars Program at UIUC. He completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with fellowships in Hematopathology and Digital Pathology/Pathology Informatics at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Gupta's research focuses on computational pathology and the development of scalable quantitative image analysis methodology to characterize tumor immune interactions and other histopathologic features in digital whole slide images  (WSIs)  of  cancer. Due to rapidly growing interest in the role of TILs in solid tumors in the age of modern immunotherapy, Dr. Gupta will introduce pioneering deep learning and computer vision methods for Pathomics  biomarker discovery by presenting analyses of the abundance and spatial distribution of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes  (TILs) in breast,  pancreatic, lung, and colorectal cancer for downstream precision oncology applications to help guide patient care and treatment.
