Azeem Akhtar is Global Chief Technology Officer at BT International, where he leads a team of global CTOs delivering strategic technology guidance to multinational enterprises. Azeem has played a pivotal role in shaping and evangelising BT’s groundbreaking Global Fabric platform—a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) solution designed to transform enterprise connectivity. Under his leadership, BT’s Global Fabric has become a cornerstone for customers seeking flexible, secure, and AI-ready networking, enabling instant scalability, multi-cloud integration, and real-time orchestration to support the complex demands of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Azeem’s thought leadership ensures that Global Fabric not only accelerates cloud adoption but also empowers organisations to harness AI safely and effectively, with built-in security, compliance, and data sovereignty controls. 

Beyond his executive role, Azeem is deeply committed to community and industry development. He has served as Chairman of Active Essex as well as Chairman of Essex County Cricket Club and speaks passionately about addressing inequalities in society. Azeem was recognised among the UK’s Top 100 Most Influential BAME Business Leaders, nominated for CTO of the Year and has number of other accolades.
