With over 35 years of telecom, internet and technology-based experience, Greg is expert at business plan development, management team building and the capital formation of high growth, communications infrastructure companies.
As one of the founders of Esat Telecom in Ireland – which sold to BT for over €1 billion – Greg went on to make the founding investment in Versatel Telecom NV. Versatel operated in Holland, Belgium and Germany building one of the largest fibre-based infrastructures in those markets. Versatel was later sold for over €2 billion to Tele2.
Greg founded CityFibre in January 2011 and has since raised over £540m in capital and completed five acquisitions. CityFibre deploys critical core duct and fibre networks in over 50 UK towns and cities and is currently expanding these to whole-city FTTH/P rollouts.
The company was recently taken private by a group led by Antin Infrastructure Partners and West Street Infrastructure Partners (funds manged by Goldman Sachs). CityFibre is strategically partnered with Vodafone to rollout full fibre to at least one million homes by 2021, and recently announced a £2.5b investment program to build FTTH/P across c.20% of the UK.
