Charles Trotman, Senior Rural Business Advisor, C.L.A.

Dr Charles Trotman is Chief Economist at the CLA, a national rural trade association representing 30,000 members in England and Wales. Together with his overall responsibility for rural economic policy, he is responsible for telecommunications policy and chairs the rural industry Rural Connectivity Forum. He is also chair of the Government’s Business Connectivity Forum working group on digital awareness and digital skills. Before joining the CLA at the beginning of 2002, he was the Dairy Adviser for the NFU (1990-93), Deputy Head of the Politics Department at London Guildhall University (1993-96) and a Deputy Director (economics) at the Bureau Europeen de Recherches (BER) in Brussels (1996-2001).
