The European Union (“EU”) artificial intelligence (“AI”) act (the “EU AI Act”), which is scheduled to come into force in Q1 2024, aims to address problems associated with the use of AI systems. The EU AI Act has broad application given that AI is an emerging general-purpose technology (i.e. a highly powerful family of computer programming techniques) used for a variety of commercial and non-commercial purposes.
