It has been brought to our attention that there are fraudulent companies contacting participants, offering to “sell” our Attendee List or requesting data or money for misleading directory or event services.
Some examples of companies we know about include:
An organisation claiming to be called TradeMyEvents
An imaginary person called Brenda Lane (firstname.lastname@example.org)
An organisation claiming to be ListReg
An imaginary person called Lisa Victor
An organisation claiming to be a US company called Professionalsdata
An organisation called Softtechbizz.com that is circulating an email claiming that our events are cancel due to Covid19, and then offering to sell our database
A so-called company (without contact details) called Heanco.info
A so-called company called texpo-visitorsdbs.org
An imaginary person called Avery Romero
An imaginary person called email@example.com
A company unknown and not recommended by us called Colab Design Group, offering to design your exhibition stand
An orginisation called Learning Vault offering to sell our database
A person called Farrah Hendrix offering to sell our attendee database
We suspect there may be others also involved in this type of scam.
None of these companies are affiliated with us. Most don’t even include real contact details.
The ONLY genuine emails you will receive from Total Telecom will either be from our company Terrapinn, our event app Swapcard, or our social sharing company Snoball.
Unfortunately, this is quite a common scam within the exhibition industry where the organiser publishes an exhibitor list on its website and event app. We would like to reassure all our clients that we NEVER sell or share our attendee data. Therefore, anyone claiming to be in possession of our attendee lists or be acting as our agent to sell our data is a complete fraud i.e. this is a scam.
We would also like to reassure all our participants that our events are most definitely not cancelled. Some have been pivoted from a physical to a virtual format, but they are definitely not canceled.
We have received copies of some of the emails they are sending and are investigating the organisations involved, but if you have any further information or you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
In fact, we have even purchased one of these so-called databases to try ascertaining whether there was any truth in their claim (and as a bit of a joke!). However, as you’d expect, the data we received was completely fabricated.
