Ms. Salam Al Shawa is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Qatar Airways Group and is a long standing global marketing and communications professional in the aviation sector. She has been with Qatar Airways since 2001, where she created the integrated Marketing & Communications department, which today comprises of: Advertising, Marketing, Global Communications, Sponsorships, Community Relations, Events, Crisis Management, Social Media and Inflight Entertainment.
Her passion in the areas of Sponsorship and Community Relations saw the airline sign its biggest major partnerships with global sporting giants, including FC Bayern Munich, AS Roma and Boca Juniors. She was also integral in the negotiations that secured one of the biggest sporting sponsorships in the world and the largest in the history of Qatar Airways as the Official Airline Partner of FIFA.
A passionate believer in giving back and in the value of Corporate Social Responsibility, Ms. Al Shawa was also influential in making the decision to pledge Qatar Airways’ support for the global charity programme - ‘Educate a Child’, which ensures millions of children receive access to education.
Her team is spread across the headquarters in Doha and four geographical regions, and deliver a consistent, multi-layered marketing communications platform that exemplifies the essence of the multi-award winning brand. The airline covers a network of over 160 destinations across six continents. Under her passionate and diligent leadership, the team have taken the airline to an industry-leading position in the marketing and communications field.
Qatar Airways has been recognised in the industry for its high standards of service, winning ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’ repeatedly, and has been honoured with 'Best Airline of the Year' at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards, for a record fifth time.
