Brian Sumers, Senior Aviation Business Editor, Skift

Brian Sumers is a Los Angeles-based reporter for Skift, where he covers the global airline industry. Since joining Skift in June 2016, Brian has focused on how innovation and technology influence the airline passenger experience. 
Previously, Brian wrote about airline and airport news for Conde Nast Traveler and Aviation Week. He has also written for the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and L.A. Weekly. 

Brian appears on television and radio to discuss airline industry trends. He has appeared on NPR's All Things Considered and Public Radio International's Marketplace, and regularly comments on airline issues for KCRW and KPCC, both public radio stations in Los Angeles. He has also been a guest on CNN and BBC World, and is often interviewed by KCBS and KABC in Los Angeles. 

Brian is a magna cum laude graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, and he has a master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. Earlier in his career, he reported for the Tampa Bay Times, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Los Angeles News Group, parent of the Los Angeles Daily News, Daily Breeze and Press-Telegram.
