Based on the national strategy of Japan, the Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response (SCARDA) was established at Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) in March 2022 to strengthen strategic research funding and to promote the formation of world-class research and development centers. We prepare for future infectious disease emergencies and will respond to more virulent mutant strains and infectious diseases that could be a threat in the future.
