The International Veterinary Vaccinology Network (IVVN) is a global community of scientists and industry partners working towards the development of vaccines for important animal diseases. Since its inception in 2017, the network has grown to welcome over 2,300 members from 93 countries.

IVVN aims to bring together researchers, industry partners, and other stakeholders to work together towards developing vaccines for high-consequence livestock diseases (including poultry and aquaculture), with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This mission is driven by four key areas of focus:

1.    Facilitating opportunities for networking to help establish new collaborations and exchange information.
2.    Supporting scientific collaboration by funding pump-priming projects and laboratory exchanges involving international partners.
3.    Training early career scientists to support the development of future international expertise.
4.    Promoting gender equality in veterinary vaccinology to help bridge the opportunity gap for women scientists and create a more diverse and inclusive research environment.

IVVN members have benefited from valuable networking opportunities and the exchange of knowledge and ideas through international conferences held in Nairobi, London, and Vietnam, as well as through global workshops and online events. To date, IVVN has supported 17 pump-priming grants and 21 laboratory exchanges. Additionally, IVVN’s conference grants and training courses have enabled early career researchers to acquire new knowledge, build professional connections, and develop essential skills for their career progression.

Furthermore, IVVN is committed to supporting the career advancement of women postdoctoral scientists through its fellowship scheme, while also encouraging more girls to pursue careers in science through the African Schools Outreach Programme. The IVVN website serves as a central hub where members of the global network can access resources, stay informed about events, discover new opportunities, and keep up to date with the latest publications and news.
