In today's white paper discussion, we delve deeper in Near Infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy and explore its capabilities for in-situ monitoring of CHO Cell Culture Medium. Building from this article,
Metrohm Singapore
explores how NIR technology can be further exploited for raw material identification at the
BioPharma Asia Convention 2015
.
____________
Near-infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy is a well known analytical technique based on absorption measured in the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum, between the visible and the mid infrared. Such technology has been used by the bioprocessing industry since the early 1990s for ex situ analysis, but it has potential for in situ bioprocess monitoring.
In efforts to maximise antibody production yield, it is important to monitor a bioreactor in situ during the CHO cell culture for effective control and optimisation of nutrient levels and ammonia production.
