Earlier this year at the BioPharma Asia Convention, Guy Heathers of Cancer Therapeutics CRC Pty Ltd delivered the presentation: Transforming World Class Academic Research into New Drugs for Cancer Patients.

The premise of this presentation was: Bridging the gap between world class Australian academic research institutes and the creation of new cancer drugs for clinical evaluation.

Key points covered in this presentation include:

• CTx has created a collaborative consortium to manage early drug discovery projects
–21 projects launched
–13 projects currently in development
–from many Australian Research Institutes (& outside)
–2 projects licensed to commercialisation partners
• 7 years of funding from Federal Government CRC Scheme
–Achievements to date:
• 13 projects in development
