Connecting through Africa - Jean Luc Grillet - Emirates

Emirates in Africa
•In 1986, Cairo became Emirates first destination in Africa
•26 years later Emirates serves (only?) 21 destinations across the continent
•All destinations served with a mix of long haul aircrafts only starting from the A330-200 to A380.
•The continent is also served by purely Cargo flights both scheduled and unscheduled.
•The 2 latest destinations opened were Lusaka and Harare on the 1st of February 2012 with 5 weekly frequencies as a start to become daily as from the 1st of October.
•In total Emirates operate more than 300 flights weekly to African continent.

Emirates Strategy in Africa
A priority on frequencies rather than on the number of served destinations. A priority for profitable destination in order to guarantee the long term sustainability of our routes. Non stop flights whenever possible. Daily flights as soon as possible. Development of capacity and frequencies only based on profitability.
