Glide Pharma, a UK based company has been focusing on development a simple mechanical system for the safe and convenient injection of solid formulations of drugs and vaccines, known as the Glide SDI. Dr Charles Potter, Chief Technology Officer, Glide Pharma, joined us at the World Influenza Congress in 2011 to give us more information on this new development. The key benefits of this system are:

• Very simple to use
• Solid, stable formulation
• Cost effective
• Simple mechanical system
• Immediate and / or controlled release
• Safe and convenient
• Preferred to a needle and syringe by patients
• Patent protected
• Lifecycle management
• Multiple applications

This unique and award-winning technology is ideal for both the injection of drugs and vaccines. It offers benefits to patients, healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical companies. Clinical data demonstrates that the Glide SDI is preferred over the standard needle and syringe. Dr Potter details the clinical data and also practical application of this technology in a Diphtheria and an Influenza vaccine, within this presentation.
