Sonia Lioret, Head of Project “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project (4E)”, GIZ

Sonia joined the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency project in May 2016 as Principal Technical Advisor / Head of Project – Renewable Energy for the 4E project. 

Prior to GIZ Vietnam, Sonia was CEO of the French Wind Energy Business Association representing 250 member companies of the wind industry. She liaised with the government, members of the Parliament, regulators, grid operators, utilities and various institutions. She contributed to the French National Energy Transition debate and to the preparation of the Energy Transition Law on issues such as energy mix, renewable energy targets, safety of supply, grid development, renewable energy support measures, energy costs and cost-effectiveness. Before that, Sonia worked as regional coordinator in Southern Africa for a GIZ biomass project, and in the Renewable Energy Agency of the Government of Pakistan as an integrated expert on solar electrification. Sonia holds a Master in Electrical Engineering from the Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité,  Supélec, and a Master in Political Sciences from the Paris Institute of Political Sciences.
