Robots taking over your office-job: fact or fiction?

TECHX University
A World Economic Forum report in January 2016 predicted that technology could make 5 million jobs redundant by 2020. It highlighted that administrative and white-collar office jobs are most at risk from a "fourth industrial revolution.” A category of robots, in the form of software, is entering the white-collar work force and they are getting more pervasive. These white-collar robots can work faster, more accurately, and longer hours than you. Some even have intelligence to make certain types of decisions better than most of us. What can you do to remain relevant in the age of robots? How can we work alongside robots?

The use of Private LTE Network to enable Beyond Visual Line of Sight Flight of Drones, Autonomous Guided Vehicles and Robotics

Drones & Robotics
The mobile telecom industry and the telecom regulators are beginning to allocate licensed frequency bands to be used for the deployment of Private LTE Network to serve the specific needs of the various industries.  As robotics and unmanned vehicles like Drones and Autonomous Mobile Robots are becoming necessary as part of the Industry 4.0 Transformation, there is a need for a reliable and robust wireless communication network that can guarantee Quality of Service and very low latency with ultra cyber  security that can mitigate cyber attacks.  The public telecom networks are designed as a shared network and some of these stringent requirements are extremely expensive and impractical to optimise for specific clients.  Hence the industry are exploring using dedicated licensed frequency bands to deploy Private LTE Network that can be localized and customised to meet these stringent and specific requirements of these specific applications and services.

Arete M is an “Facility Based Operator”(FBO) licensed by IMDA and has the right to use dedicated frequency bands to build Private LTE in Singapore.  Some examples of Private LTE Network will be presented that can be used for BVLoS Drones monitoring and Flight Control with active Geo-Caging.  Other examples are the usage of such a Private LTE Network that can be used by Autonomous Guided Vehicles(AGV) and mobile security robots and service robots.

How blockchain technology is revolutionising energy APAC and global energy industry

Keynotes

It was found that the majority of asset owners are actually paying more than what they need in running their businesses. With the help of block chain, a decentralised, secured platform can be created where the customer demand can be more accurately predicted, and surplus energy can be resell into the free market at a fair price. This helps to create happy customer and prevent energy wastage in as part of the building of smart cities.

Intelligent IoT Access Control for Stationary & Moveable Assets

TECHX University
Out of the 1B restricted Stationary & Moveable Assets managed by Enterprise/Government customers WW, only ~2% (2M), typically the busiest commercial/governmental/residential assets, are secured with an Access Control Systems (ACS) using RFID/biometrics, while ~98% (980M) are still secured using a 3000-year-old technology – mechanical locks. Reasons for the low ACS adoption are high cost ($5K per asset) and reliance on power, connectivity and physical installations. While mechanical locks cost less, they offer minimal security and suffer from high CAPEX.

XRVision’s OWL is the world first SaaS-based, always-connected & highly secured (up to 4FA) IoT Access Control Solution offering real-time monitoring & workflow automation for customers managing large number of stationary assets (buildings, rooms, equipment etc.) and movable assets (trucks, containers etc.). The product is supported by MHA, HDB and IMDA and is currently deployed at assets ranging from HDB Roof-Tops in Singapore to Manufacturing Facilities in Japan.
