Lia Andrea Ramos is a graduate of B.A. Political Science from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Eyeing a career in foreign service, Lia’s initial plan was to take up her Masters in International Studies and become a diplomat. Her first long-term job was in development work: She served as a program officer for The Asia Foundation, an international grant-giving organization focused on funding local projects that helped poverty alleviation, education, and law and human rights. In 2006, Lia was urged to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant where she landed the title Binibining Pilipinas Universe (Ms. Philippines Universe). Lia represented the country in Miss Universe 2006 in Los Angeles, California, and won the Miss Photogenic Award. Soon after her stint with Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., she worked as an international model in Cape Town, South Africa. She appeared in television commercials and print advertisements in South Africa, Germany, U.K., Spain, U.S. and Southeast Asia. In 2009, Lia decided to change careers and joined EON Stakeholder Relations Firm and worked as a Senior Account Manager for two years. She gathered experience in media relations, branding and communications and project management, and handled accounts such as L’Oreal Philippines, Pascual Lab, Guam Visitors Bureau, Hoopla-Cirque du Soleil, Louis Vuitton and the Department of Finance. Searching for a new challenge in her career, Lia quit her job to become an entrepreneur. She and her friend, Marie Ona, stumbled upon the beauty box subscription model from the US in 2012 and decided to bring the concept to the Philippines. Glamourbox.ph was launched in November 2012 and became the first beauty discovery commerce that offered a premium beauty subscription service and a multi-brand online store in the Philippines. As of date, Glamourbox has become an exclusive distributor of four cult and indie brands, Pixi by Petra, Pop Beauty, Ofra Cosmetics and Eye of Horus. With its omni-channel approach to retail, Glamourbox is continuously growing its online community and building its brand presence in bricks-and-mortar.
