John Cheng is the Business Development and Trading Director at Cheng Yew Heng Candy Factory Pte Ltd and sits on the board of SMC Food 21 Pte Ltd. Cheng Yew Heng is Singapore's only sugar manufacturer producing traditional rock sugar, black & red sugar and supplier of sugar & flour to Singapore's food & manufacturing industries since 1947.
John graduated from the Singapore Management University with a degree in business management and double majors in operations management and marketing. He is an active alumnus and president of the SMU Business Family Alumni Group.
Prior to joining the family business, John worked at an international bank where he looked at improving the front and back end of processes through the use of six sigma mythology.
In 2016, he became a Food Cabinet member, an initiative by the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association promoting the food industry as a career choice. He is currently spearheading his company's next wave of transformation towards developing retail products under the Jewels and Cheng brand for online as well as offline marketing channels.
