Veronica Sentongo, Head, Digital Banking, Stanbic Bank

Veronica Sentongo is currently the Head, Digital Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda. In this role, Veronica has championed the Launch of a plethora of innovative product offerings and services across the Digital channels. Within her first two years, she has driven growth across the Digital platforms in the excess of 900% and revenue in excess of USD 200k within the first 15 days of inception of charging.
Previously holding the position of Program Manager, Mobile Financial Services at Grameen Foundation, she received numerous awards for her contribution in the categories of: Best Pro-Poor Innovation, ICT for Development and the Barclays Citizenship Award for Contributing to Growth.
An Electrical Engineer by profession with 8 years of work experience, Veronica received both her BSc. and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering (majoring in Telecommunications) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. On attaining a scholarship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria, she went on to work for the CSIR as a Telecoms Engineer, Researcher, Software Developer, Technical Operations Manager and eventually as a Systems Integration Engineer. She has produced numerous publications and received the SA Innovation Excellence award for her contribution to research in the sector of mobile IPTV.
In addition to her technology background, she holds a PRINCE2® Project Management practitioner qualification and is a Certified Expert in Microfinance (Frankfurt School of Finance & Management).
Veronica has an affinity for technology, and a keen interest in the application of IT, telecommunications and novel engineering techniques to improve the quality of human life, socio-economic and community development. When she isn’t being a tech geek, she spends her time appreciating the Arts through theatre, fashion, music, film and dance.
