Mr. Michio Hamano is currently the COO and Executive Director of GS1Japan / EPCglobal Japan. In 1977, he joined Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI), and in 1999, he served Director, Technology Evaluation Division, Industrial Technology Bureau, of MITI. Two years later, he became the Director of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). He was the Director General, Statistics Department, Economic & Industrial Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in 2004.
